About Peter Mt. Shasta

Ascended Master Teachings given to Peter

Peter Mt. Shasta was given his name by the Ascended Master Saint Germain, who appeared before him in physical form in Muir Woods, California, in 1973. He was offered the opportunity to ascend, but after Saint Germain showed him the suffering of humanity he chose to stay in embodiment to be of service.  As a result of that decision he was sent to Mount Shasta, where he was trained for several years by Pearl Dorris, former director of the I AM Sanctuary of San Francisco, and assistant to Godfre Ray King, founder of the Saint Germain Foundation and author of Unveiled Mysteries. Except for various travels and retreats, he has continued to live in Mount Shasta.

He is the author of many books, some autobiographical,  which teach how to use I AM Affirmations to bring the teachings of the Ascended Masters into fruition in daily life. Recently his focus has been to bring the meditative teachings of the Far East into union with the I AM consciousness.

Peter's Travels

Peter grew up an atheist like both his mother and father. Following the instructions of his scientist father, he vowed not to believe anything he had not proved himself. He asked God many times to prove his existence, but did not perceive an answer until, when he was 21, he began doing hatha yoga. As he felt the energy (prana) circulating through his body, he felt for the first time that there was something beyond physical existence. After this first class he went to a bookstore and asked for their best book on yoga, and was handed "The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna," by M. There he read, "The mind cannot dwell on God if it is immersed day and night in worldliness.... it is most necessary to go into solitude...and think of God....You should withdraw within yourself...and discriminate between the Real and the unreal. God alone is real...." When he read these lines it was as though a light switched on. He also met Swami Brahmananda, who initiated him into a simple yet powerful meditation practice where he began to experience the Light in the center of his being. From early youth, he had observed that wealth did not bring happiness, and now he saw the door to that elusive happiness beginning to open beyond the material realm.

Shortly later, Peter heard Ram Dass, the former Harvard psychology professor, interviewed on the radio. Ram Dass had experienced transcendental consciousness on LSD and, wanting to find a way to achieve this consciousness naturally, had gone to India. There he met Neem Karoli Baba, who became his guru. As Peter was listening and wondering if he, too, might have a guru, a beam of light struck him in the 3rd eye (ajna chakra), and knew that Maharajji, Ram Dass's guru, had invited him to visit. In 1971 he left for India and embarked on a series of adventures that would take him to India a half dozen times, and later to Tibet--in search of deeper experiences of God Consciousness. He also met Sathya Sai Baba, Anandamayi Ma, and many other yogis with transcendental awareness and unusual abilities.
