The Ascended Masters
The Ascended Masters are enlightened beings who once lived on Earth and, through spiritual attainment, rose beyond the limitations of ordinary human consciousness. In Peter Mt. Shasta’s teachings he describes his interactions with them as real spiritual intelligences who continue to guide humanity, helping sincere seekers awaken to the I AM Presence, spiritual mastery, and attain the ultimate freedom of their own ascension.
In Tibet, this ascension is called attainment of the Rainbow Body. In the West, these beings are often called Ascended Masters because they completed their human lessons and entered a higher state of consciousness from which they help humanity. Saint Germain, Jesus, Mary, El Morya, Kuthumi, Kuan Yin, and other great beings are among those known in these teachings as Ascended Masters.

These teachings show how the Ascended Masters are perfected beings of wisdom, love, and spiritual power. By turning one’s attention toward them in prayer, meditation, devotion, or study, a seeker may become more aware of their guidance, protection, and help in daily life.

Below are images traditionally associated with several Ascended Masters and important figures connected with these teachings. Different traditions present these beings in different ways, but each image may serve as a point of meditation, devotion, and contemplation.
Ascended Master Jesus
Known in these teachings as a great being of love, devotion, compassion, and spiritual initiation. In some traditions he is also known the Lord Maitreya, World Teacher, Cosmic Christ and head of the Sixth Ray of Devotion.
Ascended Master Mary
Honored as an embodiment of the Divine Mother, Mary represents divine love, purity, compassion, grace, and spiritual protection in the path of devotion and awakening.
Ascended Master Saint Germain
Saint Germain was one of the most important Ascended Masters in Peter Mt. Shasta’s own spiritual awakening and instruction on the path of mastery. His teachings and work are associated with the Seventh Ray, the Violet Flame, spiritual freedom, transformation, and the I AM teachings of mastery in the West. He is one of the first to bring the ancient spiritual teachings of India to the West and give them in a simple, easy to apply, format.
Ascended Master El Morya
El Morya is associated with the First Ray of Will, Strength, Leadership, and Divine Purpose. In many esoteric traditions, he is linked with spiritual discipline and the path of right action. He represents the Will of God in action and serves as a foundation for the other rays.
Ascended Master Madame Blavatsky

Ascended Master Kuthumi Lal Singh
Kuthumi is associated with the Second Ray of Love and Wisdom and is often connected with teaching, compassion, spiritual understanding, and the unfolding of the heart. He and El Morya often work together.
Mahachohan
The Mahachohan is traditionally understood as a great spiritual being who oversees the activity of the rays and the work of the chohans, helping direct the spiritual evolution of humanity. He has an etheric temple on the slopes of Mount Shasta, to which he occasionally brings his students in their etheric bodies.
Godfre Ray King
Godfre Ray King, also known as Guy Ballard, played a major role in bringing Saint Germain’s teachings to a wider audience in the West during the 1930s.
Pearl Dorris
Pearl Dorris was an assistant to Godfre Ray King and director of the I AM Sanctuary of San Francisco. As Peter Mt. Shasta wrote in Apprentice to the Masters, she was the teacher to whom he was sent by Saint Germain for spiritual training in the mastery of bringing God Consciousness into everyday life.
